This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
In Backpacking 101, you will learn about what gear to take backpacking, how to plan a trip, and the resources to help you get started. Backpacking 101 is an introductory-level program that covers the basics of hike-in camping or point to point.
This program will begin by talking about the differences in types of camping trips, then give information on how to plan a hike-in camping, or backpacking, trip. We’ll also talk about what gear you need to take and discuss the differences between different equipment such as down vs synthetic sleeping bags. We won’t be backpacking during this program, but there will be an opportunity to wear a full backpack and a few different types of packs.
Meet Ranger Jordan Evans at Long Hunter State Park visitor center at the posted time. All equipment is provided. In the case of severe weather, all participants will be notified 24 hours before the program starts via the email entered at registration.
