Join Seasonal Interpretive Ranger John Wallace for a guided tour through the historic Toco African American Cemetery. By exploring cemetery design and culture at this sacred site, explore how cemeteries can record the lives, hardships, and deaths of underrepresented rural communities of East Tennessee.
We will meet in the parking area at the end of McGhee-Carson Road before the closed gate of the property. We will walk ~5 minute path to the cemetery. Bathrooms will not be available. Wear breathable clothes appropriate for hot weather and light activity and bring water. Visitors of all ages are welcome. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
We have limited available slots, so registration is required.
