Join Division of State Natural Areas staff and archaeologists from the Tennessee Division of Archaeology for a hands-on Archaeology Day focused on how archaeological sites are recorded, evaluated, and cared for. This program will highlight why careful documentation is essential for preserving archaeological sites and how this work supports long-term management and stewardship, particularly as new recreational infrastructure such as hiking trails is planned and constructed. Participants will learn how archaeology and trail planning work together to balance public access with the protection of cultural resources. This program emphasizes responsible archaeology, respect for cultural resources, and the role the public can play in protecting our shared heritage.
