This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
In the last years of the American Civil War, people fleeing slavery sought refuge behind Union Army lines. Thousands of refugees came to Clarksville between 1863 and 1865. Some refugees created autonomous communities where they lived in freedom for the very first time - like Affricanna Town which existed near Dunbar Cave.
This tour lasts approximately 1 hour, about a half mile in length outdoors on paved surfaces.
