Join Ranger Graham in making some totally “tweet” treats for your backyard birds! This family-friendly winter program focuses on supporting the local and migratory species that remain in Tennessee during the colder months. We’ll explore which birds stay through the winter, how they find food beneath snow and frost, and the clever strategies they use to stay warm. You’ll also learn simple, safe ways to help birds at home, including proper winter feeding, offering clean water, and creating small pockets of habitat.
After a short talk and a show-and-tell of common winter birds, participants will roll up their sleeves and create their own pinecone bird feeder using natural materials. Each person will make one to take home and enjoy as a backyard birdwatching station. This craft is easy, hands-on, and perfect for both kids and adults.
Participants are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing, as temperatures may be cold or windy. The program will take place under an open-air picnic shelter.
