This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join us for an evening hike through the quiet forest of Rocky Fork as we ascend to the summit of Whitehouse Cliffs. This guided program is timed with the setting sun and the rising Milky Way, offering a rare chance to see the galactic center glowing over the Appalachian skyline. As twilight fades to darkness, we’ll pause at the panoramic overlook to take in the stars.
The hike is approximately 2 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of nearly 1,000 feet. The trail is steep, rocky, and uneven in places, especially during the final ascent. Expect moderate to strenuous conditions with limited natural light. Red flashlights or headlamps are encouraged to preserve night vision. Bring plenty of water, sturdy hiking boots, and dress for changing mountain conditions.
This program is ideal for stargazers, photographers, and night sky enthusiasts. Smartphone stargazing apps and binoculars are welcome!
