Join Harpeth River State Park Staff for our monthly astronomy night! This month we will be at one of the most unique ancient sites in Tennessee - Mound Bottom State Archaeological Site. Mound Bottom is a Mississippian-era mound center tucked into a horseshoe bend on the Harpeth River, just west of Nashville, TN. We will hike a 1.5 mile trail (total trip) following the only land access to site.
On this hike we will discuss Mississippian Period culture and lifeways. Once we reach the mound center we will use our 10 inch Dobsonian telescope to look at some night sky objects and stars while enjoying hot chocolate!
Bring your curiosity, weather appropriate clothing and a red-light flashlight!
Cancelled in the event of bad weather. If cancelled, notice will be sent via the email used to register.
