Description: Introduction to Tree Identification

Location: Edgar Evins State Park

Join SIR Dixie on this 1.5-mile hike on the Highland Rim Trail.

Do trees look like giant green blobs to you? Say no more! On this hike, you will learn the basics of tree identification and the importance of the trees within the Edgar Evins Forest.

What you need to know:

·        This Program can take up to 1.5 hours.

o  The Highland Rim Trail is a 1.5-mile hike with moderate elevation throughout. Please be aware of your hiking abilities and prepare as needed.

  • Safety!

- Bring water and easy-to-pack snacks into a personal pack. It is important to fuel your body and stay hydrated!

-Wear appropriate footwear, such as trail runners, tennis shoes, or hiking boots.

-Keep an eye on the weather forecast! Wear appropriate clothing for the heat.

  •  Meeting Location

-This program will meet at our Park Office. You can either follow the signage within the park, or put in 1630 Edgar Evins State Park Road, Silver Point, TN 38582 into your favorite navigation app.

-We will be taking off for our adventure at 9:30 am If the number of sign-ups does not match attendance, we will wait for five minutes before taking off.
