This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Ready for a real HIKING ADVENTURE? Join us as we climb up Hinkle Branch and beyond, up into a rarely-visited side of Holston Mountain. We'll explore high-country geology and mountain plant and animal communities. We'll also be on the lookout for undocumented populations of some rare native orchid species.
Please note that this is a long and difficult 10+ mile hike. Participants must be prepared for both rocky and swampy trails, steep climbs, and the possibility of stinging nettles, thorny shrubs, black bears and venomous snakes. Wear long pants and sturdy hiking footwear. Bring raingear, and plenty of food and water.
We'll meet at the Warriors' Path (former) pool parking lot, departing PROMPTLY at 7:30 AM to drive to the trailhead. It's about an hour drive to the trailhead.
Note that you must preregister if you wish to participate.
