Description: Fish of Seven Islands Guided Exploration
Location: Seven Islands State Birding Park

Description: Come to Seven Islands to learn about all 60+ species of fish we have around our park with the backdrop of the beautiful French Broad River! This is not a fishing program, it will be about all fish of the fish of seven islands, including some of the smaller species like our beautiful darters! There will be a talk at the start from Ranger Casey with details about all the amazing fish that could potentially be found in our section of the Lower French Broad River. We’ll also learn about river habitats, the dangers affecting the survival of some species, and the conservation efforts you can participate in to help protect them. After the talk, we will hike to the bridge and Newman’s island to potentially find some fish to observe. (No rod and reel fishing, only net observations).
This program is open to all ages, but the information will be geared towards adults and older children. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 6:30 PM, and be prepared to walk approximately 2 miles over paved an unpaved surfaces. Participants are recommended to wear shoes that are ok getting wet, getting in the water is not required but we will be close to water and muddy bank areas. Everyone should also bring sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle.
The cost of this program is $5 per person. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
