This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join Ranger Elijah for a short (0.10-mile one-way) but very strenuous hike on the Cable trail. This is one of the most unique and challenging trails in the park. Once you get to the bottom of the trail, you will get a beautiful view from the base of Cane Creek Falls, Rock House Falls, and Cane Creek. Caving helmets will be provided and required during this portion of the hike (guests are welcome to bring their own helmet, but please notify us ahead of time). The Cable trail feels nearly vertical with a steel cable as a guide running down the rocky trail. This trail is considered extremely strenuous, but participants should be aware that we will navigate this trail as slowly as needed to do so safely. Many people find the trail route back up significantly easier than the way down. Anyone who does not want to navigate the Cable Trail may remain at the top and wait for the group to begin the Paw Paw Trail.
Once we navigate the cable trail, we will hike the adjacent Paw Paw trail (2.50-mile loop) and stop at several scenic overlooks. Participants will not be required to wear a helmet during this portion. The Paw Paw trail is an easy-moderate trail. Sturdy footwear is required. The price is $5.00 per participant. Please bring water, snacks, and wear appropriate hiking apparel! Registration is required to attend. No participants under 10 years of age.
