This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Ever wanted to go on one of our Ranger Led Floats at Big Ridge, but you're not a fan of kayaking? Now is your chance to go on a Ranger Led Pedal Boat tour instead. The goal will be to pedal around Big Ridge Lake, potentially going to the dam and back. Total distance will be subject to change during the program due to the toll pedaling may take. During the trip we will discuss the flora, fauna, folklore, and folklife that exist while taking in the sunset over Big Ridge. We will meet at the boat dock at 8:00pm for an introduction and safety talk before we start. Pedal boats and lifejackets will be provided by Big Ridge State Park. You are welcome to bring your own lifejacket, but it must get Park Ranger approval before the program starts. Feel free to bring snacks, water, headlamps, or any other supplies that you might need. Coolers and fishing poles will not be allowed on this trip. An additional layer of warm clothing might be a good idea, as temps can sometimes be colder on the water. The park staff will have dry bags that you may store additional clothing in if needed. Program is subject to cancellation if the forecast calls for inclement weather or heavy overcast.
Please pay attention to the signup options and choose the one that accurately reflects how many people you would be putting on a boat. The max amount of people for any of our pedal boats is 4.
