We'll begin at a parking lot and ride west to a cedar glade complex to see some of the globally rare plants associated with this habitat. We'll stop along the way at several points to see other interesting plants and to talk about the history and management of the natural area. The return route is a repeat show so if you want to spend more time at a site that looked interesting on the way in, you can stop on the way out while the group continues on down the road. The road is gravel so a mountain bike or other bike with wide tires is a necessity. We'll be walking through a rocky forest at one point. Be prepared for the weather and have appropriate footwear with good ankle support. The usual risks associated with the outdoors are present including insects and poison ivy.
PLEASE COMMIT. Be sure to attend if you make a reservation, so there won’t be any untaken spaces. If something comes up and you can’t attend, PLEASE have your reservation removed as far in advance of the event as possible. Our spring hikes almost always sell out so if you sign up and don't attend you've very likely caused someone to miss out unnecessarily.
