This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join Roan Mountain State Park from 1:00-3:00 PM EST on Friday, November 28th for our annual After Thanksgiving Hike as we celebrate everything that we have to be thankful for over the past year. 30 participants will experience gorgeous forest ridge views of the surrounding area while exploring the Peg Leg Mine Loop and Rosebay Ridge Trails on a rugged 2.3-mile hike that begins and ends at the Park Visitor Center.
The newly opened Rosebay Ridge Trail offers back country primitive camping and incredible vistas to view our surrounding Roan Highlands. This hike is a moderate-difficulty hike on natural trail with maximum inclines of 18% grade. Weather can vary greatly this time of the year, so be sure to wear layers, good hiking shoes, and pack a rain jacket and snacks/water/cameras. Meet your guide, Ranger Phil Hylen, at the Visitor Center porch to opt out of Black Friday and to get out into nature. Register for your free spot today!
